How did my writing begin?
I remember I was in Year 6 when I wrote my first 'book' as an assignment for our class teacher, Miss Costa. It was about a racehorse called 'Glory Bound' that my father had an interest in. I think it's ending was rather sad!
My first 'acknowledged' writing was for a competition to win a colour TV when I was in Year 11! Entrants had to retell a ghostly experience, the best one winning a colour TV (which was pretty important to myself and my brother and sisters!) I didn't win, but part of my 'story' (I didn't have a real experience, I just wrote about one I'd read about!) was printed in one of the Sunday newspapers. That was pretty exciting.
Published Stories and Books
My first story in the NSW School Magazine was called 'Waiting for Rain'. It's about how the drought of 2007 was affecting horses and families. I've always loved horses and here's a picture of some of my father's horses from years ago which was taken at a property near Scone.

'Try!' was also originally published as a short story in the June 2010 'Countdown' issue of the NSW School Magazine. I was inspired to publish a longer version as an ebook because there were so few stories about rugby league for my younger students.
